Understand the calculation
Person-hours = crew × elapsed hours. Job cost = labor + materials + other direct costs + allocated overhead + reserve. Selling price = cost ÷ (1 − target margin), rounded upward to the next cent. A 25% markup is different: $1,552 × 1.25 = $1,940, leaving a 20% margin. Our fictional 25% margin example produces $2,069.34.
The result excludes sales tax, financing charges and any cost you have not entered. Verify cost completeness, customer scope and tax treatment before issuing a proposal.
